- Description
- This must have been a hot, sunny day because everyone is standing in the shade of the station building. It is hard to see clearly but there are nicely dressed women and children waiting so it is likely they are waiting to board the train. There are several farmers or men with produce or goods to be shipped, likely to Hamilton, perhaps east to Oakville or Toronto.
The first Great Western Railway train passed through Oakville and Burlington in 1855.
This original Bronte train station was built in 1877, north of the tracks, west of Bronte Road. It and an adjacent hotel were destroyed by fire sometime between 1908 and 1910. - Notes
