Oakville-born Nicole Rayy used the recent release of her debut album as a fundraiser for the Manitoba Neurofibromatosis Support Group (MBNF). "I was introduced to this charity by my manager whose nine-year-old nephew lives with NF and I've seen the daily challenges he faces," Rayy said, on why she chose to turn her release party into a fundraiser. "I wanted to give back and help spread awareness by donating all the proceeds from the evening to MBNF ." The release party raised more than $4,000 towards its cause and was held last Sunday (Oct. 15) at Cowboy's Roadhouse in Winnipeg, following the launch of her album the day before. Rayy said she was "beyond excited" for the release of Dig and couldn't wait to share it with her fans and the public. "I've put a lot of hard work and energy into this album to make sure it has the right songs, the right music and says exactly what I want to say," she told the Oakville Beaver. "This album is a whole new level of honesty and emotion." Recorded at Noble Street Studios in Toronto and produced by Doug Romanow (who has worked with Justin Bieber, Chantal Kreviazuk and Johnny Reid), Dig is a 10-track collection. "(It) challenges listeners to dig down to Oakville-born Nicole Rayy officially released her debut album, Dig, last weekend. Her album launch party on Oct. 15 acted as a fundraiser for a neurofibromatosis support group. | JanStar Entertainment photo their emotional core," stated a media release. "From upbeat, empowering anthems, such as Done With This Town and Rayy's previous single Don't, to the tender moments found in Never Cry Like That and Drive Until I Forget You, Rayy's debut is an emotional whirlwind of navigating the rollercoaster of young love." The album's title track, Dig, is available now to radio stations. The Oakville native was also at the 2016 World Music Festival earlier this month in Shanghai, China, saying she was looking forward to performing again. "Last year, performing on that stage was one of the best experiences I've had, the audience response was overwhelming," said Rayy. "I feel so fortunate and honoured that they want(ed) to have me back again this year."
