Oakville woman battling cancer while pregnant by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff 27 | Thursday, November 3, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Oakville's Devon Ingham is battling cervical cancer while seven months pregnant. The Oakville woman and the baby girl growing inside her have already undergone two rounds of chemotherapy. The pair has another round to go before Ingham has a caesarean section at 32 weeks -- in just under a month. Once her baby is born, the team of oncologists working on Ingham's treatment plan at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto will have a better idea of the severity of her cancer, Ingham told the Oakville Beaver. Treatment will continue for new mom Treatment will likely include weeks of radiation and more chemotherapy while she juggles her new role as a mother. Ingham said she'll have a great story to share with her daughter later in life. "I can tell her, do you know what I had to go through to have you?" The past 18 months have been challenging for the 31 year old, who has spent much time caring for her father who died May 14 with lung cancer. It was only a matter of days after her father's death that Ingham discovered she was pregnant, something she and her partner Jake Michaud hadn't planned for. She suspected something was wrong Despite the assurance that her baby was growing and had a strong heartbeat, Ingham suspected something was not right. She experienced daily bleeding, which was diagnosed as a subchorionic hemorrhage, a condition that affects 25 per cent of women during their first half of pregnancy. see Friends' on p.30 Sheri Bird, left, and Laura Glynn, right, hosted a Girls Night Out in support of Devon Ingham, centre. Ingham has cervical cancer and is pregnant. She will be delivering her baby early at 32 weeks on Nov. 23 so she can continue with her cancer treatment. | James Hoggett photo DIAMOND DIAMOND Voted Best Accountant by Oakville Beaver Readers for 10 Consecutive Years CPA, CA, MBA, B.
