www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, November 11, 2016 | 14 ClubLink files plan for Glen Abbey Golf Course with Town continued from p.1 Abbey property, and includes an 8.5 kilometre-long Sixteen Mile Creek Trail, which has been called the "missing link" of the Sixteen Mile Creek Trail system because it isn't publicly accessible. "That land, plus much more, will be permanently transferred for public use by its owner ClubLink for the entire community of Oakville to enjoy for generations to come," a media release states. ClubLink also has "six big ideas" it hopes to implement to "enrich the Park Plan and to make key historical and contextual themes legible to the public." The big ideas include: · Greenway Park, which links portions of the open space system to form a distinctive circuit, reminiscent of a golf course · a valley's edge open space, which has two defining areas, a multi-use trail and rolling fairways · Great Belvedere, a reinterpretation of spectator viewing opportunities on the existing golf course to provide a scenic overlook of the valley landscape from the edge of the table lands · a village market and retail facility with an urban square created by reusing the existing stables building · a social hub and central park located at Glen Abbey's clubhouse and 18th hole green · valley lands, about a 78-acres portion of Sixteen Mile Creek that is currently privately owned being conveyed to public authority. The news comes on the heels of Oakville Town council extending an interim control bylaw earlier this month that temporarily blocks any development of the Glen Abbey Golf Course for another year. The original bylaw was enacted on Feb. 1, 2016 and has been extended until Jan. 31, 2018. ClubLink has appealed the original interim control bylaw to the Ontario Municipal Board. That hearing is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2017. The organization says it plans to initiate an engagement program to share information with Oakville residents about how its redevelopment plan will benefit the community. Open houses will be held next month. It has also launched a website, www.glenabbeyplan.com, with details of its plan, including the municipal financial impact, a traffic impact study and a waste management strategy. In the meantime, Club Link officials say that for the next several years, it will be "business as usual" with Glen Abbey Golf Course hosting the RBC Canadian Open once again in 2017. ClubLink owns 22 other golf courses in the Toronto area. -- with files from David Lea A rendering of ClubLink's proposed development plan for Glen Abbey Golf Course, filed Thursday (Nov. 10) with the Town of Oakville. | ClubLink rendering Doctors recommend the kyBoot "kyBoots help you keep balance and activate your muscles, from your toes to your back: they are helpful in the treatment of pain in the heels and forefeet, and are a method of choice to support the treatment of pain in the Achilles tendon and back." - Dr. Markus Müller, specialist in orthopaedic surgery, foot surgery practitioner, Lucerne Now H A Deliveryiring D Apply tod river. ay!
