He asserts the student is being blamed for a party being cancelled and has been receiving racist messages and death threats from classmates as a result. They allege one commenter on social media threatened to hang the student and set them on fire. The man alleges staff at the school told the student to delete the comments and makes repeated allegations Holy Trinity is a "racist school." School staff respond by saying they are willing to speak with the man about his concerns, but asked he stop broadcasting. When he repeatedly declines, the school contacts Halton police who arrive a few minutes later. When officers arrive, they tell the man he can continue recording and take him and his family into an office where they listen to their concerns. It is at this point the man voluntarily ends his broadcast. It is unknown if any charges were laid or if Halton police are investigating the alleged social media threats. Halton police declined to comment on the incident, stating the video involves youths and contains identifying circumstances. The Halton Catholic District School Board said it was aware of the video, but privacy legislation does not allow it to share any specifics regarding incidents that occur involving students. It did, however, release the following statement. "The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our primary concern and a responsibility that our principals and vice-principals take very seriously," stated Andrea Swinden, an administrator with the board's Strategic Communications Department. "We hold every confidence in the school administrative team at Holy Trinity and support their efforts to maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment." Holy Trinity also communicated with parents of students at the school in the wake of the incident and media coverage. In that communication, the school asserts its zero tolerance policy concerning cyber bullying. "We want to assure you that any and all concerns around bullying that are brought to our attention are immediately reviewed and investigated by our school administrative team," reads the communication. "The safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our primary concern and a responsibility that we take very seriously. At every step of each investigation, we always keep in mind the best interests of the students who are entrusted to our care."
