The Oakville Beaver, Friday M a y 12, 2006 - 13 Meet The Oakirille Rush O A K V I L L E R U SH The Oakville Rush GU16B soccer team had a great season last year. The team quietly went about its business and finished with a 15-0-5 record in league action. In addition the team won the League Cup for the coveted double, thereby accomplishing both of its main goals for the season. Overall the team record for 2005 was 30-10-09. This season will present the girls with even greater challenges. The team will be playing in the SRSL's Elite division against strong competition from teams such as Erin Mills, London and St. Catherines. The team will also compete in tournaments in Niagara, Barrie, Pickering, Newmarket and St. Catherines. However, the highlight of the season is bound to be the trip to the University of North Carolina for soccer camp in early July. UNC has had one of the best female university soccer programs for over 20 years. The head coach, Anson Dorrance, is a former coach of the USA's national women's team and has led UNC to 18 National Championships. From 9am to 8pm (with demonstrations thereafter) the girls will eat, sleep and drink soccer for five days. The curriculum is jam-packed and promises to be a tremendous learning experience. The Rush will be joined at the camp by three other Oakville teams - the OakvilTe Phantoms, Redgales and Arsenal. Oakville will be well represented!
