Prince goes to Appleby By Howard Mozel OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF School is important, says Prince Andrew, but students should avail themselves of every chance to leam outside the classroom in order to both fulfill their potential and change the world for the better. "Tcike those opportunities with both hands and go out there and make the best of them," he said. The Duke of York made those comments Wednesday aftemoon to select students and staff from Appleby College who belong to Round Square, a world-wide association of more than 50 schools on five continents who participate in community service, work projects, exchange programs and adventuring all over the planet. "Education is very important to give young people the opportunities to understand the globe on which they live," he told the packed John Guest Dining Hall, That said, added Prince Andrew, students should also take advantage of what he called the "added bits" that round out individuals as a whole and "educate you in ways the classroom cannot do." Appleby has been a member of Round Square since 1992 and in the past five years alone has sent more than 100 students to projects worldwide. This membership has allowed Appleby students to aspire to Round Square's IDEALS internationalism, democracy, environment, adventure, lead See Looking page 3 2 0 0 6 F U S IO N F e a tu re s includ e: - tin te d w in d o w s k e y le s s e n try ·a ir co nd itio nin g · S e cu rilo c k ' an ti-th eft p o w e r w in d o w s & lo c k s p o w e r h e a te d sid e m irro rs C D p la y e r w ith M P 3 p la y b a c k - tilt/telscoping s te e rin g w h e e l & m o re C h ro m e Exhaust T ip s N O W PEOPLE W O N ' T JUST SEE Y O U COM ING T H E Y 'L L H E A R Y O U C O M IN G . s 2 5 , 5 2 0 with $2900 down plus freight ($1150), 1st, gas tax, admin & taxes
