3 2 - The Oakville Beaver, Frid a y M a y 12, 2006 OAK records broken at Hicken Invitational Oakville Aquatic Club (OAK) swim mers combined to win 60 medals and break three club records at the Dr. Ralph Hicken Invitational swim meet last weekend in Etobicoke. OAK won 22 gold, 20 silver and 18 bronze at the three-day meet. Michael Seifert set two new club standards (10and-under boys' 50-m etre fly and 100m fly), while the girls' 11-12 4x50m etre relay team of Marni Oldershaw, Clara Armstrong, Mika Spencer and Jacqueline Keire broke a 16-year OAK record. The club's 11-year-old girls particu larly shone at the event, winning nine of 11 races and then joining Armstrong in the 12-year-old relays to win silver and bronze. Spencer and Oldershaw each won four gold, with Keire adding one gold and four silvers. Spencer's tim e of 1:04.01 in the 100m freestyle ranks her as the top 11-year-old girl in Canada. OAK's 15-year-old boys were also impressive as eight different swimmers qualified for event finals. Cam Cummings led the way with a fourmedal effort, while Curtis Samuel, Zacary Odger and Zack Chetrat also reached the podium . Luke Kikot, James Loh, Matt Lawson and Brian Gilmour earned points with their team with top-eight finishes. Perhaps the happiest OAK swim mers at the meet were Brody Dyson and Armstrong, who both earned a trip to this sum m er's Age Group National Championships by posting national qualifying times. Dyson broke national standards in the 14-year-old boys' 100m back (1:08.18) and 200m back (2:23.89), winning bronze and silver, respectively, in those events. Armstrong shaved more than 14 seconds off her previous 12-year-old girls' 200m breaststroke, finishing the race in a tim e of 3:00.30 and placing fourth at the event.
