To bolster the fundraising, the campaign will be relaunched this month. The centre has outgrown its 6,400 sq. ft. Kerr Street facilities and has negotiated a 10-year lease at 461 North Service Rd. W., east of Fourth Line, the former home of the Oakville Gymnastics Club. The money will be used to reno vate the 8,200 square foot ground floor, allowing for better accessi bility. The new location will also have more parking. Renovation should be completed by May. OPCC aims to create a "warm, welcoming and fun environment" while at the same time address increased program demands. It also hopes to accommodate close to 400 families who are on its waiting list. Renovation work is under way, thanks to a lead donation of $100,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Ontario Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services has given $25,000, and local fundraising has realized between $55,000 and $60,000. "We're almost at the hallway mark of $200,000," said Snidal. The renovation will include a reception area mural painted by local artist Lyn Estall what will serve as its donor wall listing all capital campaign contributors. "We're looking to the Oakville community to support us," she said. "Our Renaissance Gala is a fundraiser, and we're hoping to reunite past volunteers, board members and parents who used to come to the centre," she said.
