Loving husband of Edith, and devoted father of Nicole, Bernard and Christine, all of Oakville, Ontario. Predeceased by his parents, A. Robert and Rose Livet, and sister Monique (Francois). Also survived by his brother Daniel (Anny) of Sulgen, Switzerland, many nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. Robert was born and raised in Switzerland, giving him the love of the outdoors, including camping, hiking, biking and skiing. After getting his degree in Mechanical Engineering in Zurich then learning English in the UK, he moved to Hamilton, Ontario in 1969 and worked at Westinghouse. In 1971, he met the love of his life, Edith. They married in 1973 and re-settled in Montreal where he worked for Monenco Inc. and remained with the company, now known as Amec Foster Wheeler, for over 40 years before retiring as Vice President, Power & Energy in 2015. In that time, Robert led the development of many power projects both in Canada and around the world, passionate about bringing access to energy in places like Nigeria, Indonesia and Thailand. Always the adventurer, Robert enjoyed exploring with family and friends, especially his hiking group. From safari in Zimbabwe to sailing in Turkey, skiing in the Alps to trekking Mount Kilimanjaro, snorkeling in Lombok to numerous canoeing trips throughout Northern Ontario, Robert could never sit still, preferring to get out and discover everything there was to do. Robert also loved music, especially opera, classical and jazz. He was also a dedicated family man, ensuring his children had a diverse upbringing and could pursue their goals. He brought his bright eyes, big smile, and fun-loving nature to many family gatherings all over the globe. Visit our guestbook through www.koprivataylor.com December 19, 1925- December 2, 2015 I didn't know that morning God was going to call your name, In life i loved you dearly, In death i do the same. It broke my heart to lose you, You did not go alone, For part of me went with you The day God called you home. You left me beautiful memories, Your love is still my guide, and though I cannot see you, You are always by my side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. Dearly missed, never forgotten. Your loving wife, Christina OakvieBeaver The Oakville Beaver would like to express sincere and heart-felt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones.
