W hile George Niblock, Oakville Lakeside Residents' (OLRA) Association president, supports m uch of the hub plans, he is concerned they will take too long to complete. "W e echo our fellow residents' associations that they're extraordinarily long timelines. Anything that can be done to speed up the process is good," said Niblock. Council also heard a Pollara presentation of a telephone and online survey of 809 Oakville residents, done between March 31 and April 10. This survey found while 91 per cent of respondents support municipal investments in facilities and programs, like the Oakville Centre, residents are split about willingness to pay increased property taxes to fund cultural investments. About 55 per cent support the idea, but only 10 per cent would definitely be willing to pay additional property tax. By contrast, 45 per cent of respondents opposed, including 23 per cent "definitely not willing" to pay additional tax. Town council, which also maintained an allocation of $1 million in capital funding for the DCB, will continue to seek public feedback in 2017. "There was a little bit of an extraction from the public on the consultations.
