As she crossed the street, the back wheel of her three-wheeled bike hit the curb, causing her to fall and hit her head on the concrete. She started bleeding excessively, and imme diately, there were three persons around her. She doesn't speak English, does not have a cellphone, and all she could say at the time was our address. Despite all this, these individuals immedi ately brought her a chair to sit on and a towel to hold against her head, called the ambu lance, and one drove to my house to inform me of what had happened. I am eternally grateful for these people's quick help and kind attitude. They did not allow my mother to feel alone and helpless, with no way to reach her family. Despite the tremendous language barrier, they kept my mother calm and in good spirits. We went to the hospital and she received five stitches. She is now home, feeling good and recovering. She, along with the rest of the family will never forget the people who helped her in that moment. I know not what could have happened had these amazing people not come to the res cue. A potentially terrible situation has be come such a heartfelt moment thanks to the actions of the Good Samaritans of Oakville. I am extremely proud to be part of a communi ty that has such caring and thoughtful people. On May 25, 2016, I sent an email to local council stating my concerns, shared by many neighbours, about the high speed traffic on Colonel William Parkway. Of particular interest and concern is the stretch running from Richview to Liptay-- a span of 800 metres without a stop sign. It is observed that Colonel William Parkway provides locals with an alternative route in bypassing the intersection of Bronte Road and Dundas and many advantage this route on a daily basis. All types of vehicles, in cluding local buses, surpass the local limit of 50 km/h and even the reduced 40 km/h zone in the vicinity of St. Mary's Catholic School. Vehicles continue to speed, and some have been seen to even pass other vehicles on our street. Where is the accountability and re sponsibility that our elected officials should be showing? We have not seen it here in Bronte Creek. We are greatly concerned about the safety of the community and getting zero support.
