For photos of the OMHS' recent Christmas tree lighting, see p.21. | Graham Paine /Metroland An elderly couple was rescued by firefighters and police after a grease fire erupted in their kitchen, trapping them in a rear bedroom Sunday (Dec. 18). Oakville Fire, along with Halton police, responded to the fire in a single-storey home on Kingswood Road in the Speers Road and Kerr Street area, just before 5 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy black smoke on the main floor of the house. One crew of firefighters, along with a Halton police officer, located the elderly couple in a rear bedroom, as another firefighting crew worked to extinguish the grease fire in the kitchen.
