"We went across the river. We had firefight ers go across, gather the victims, bring them back to shore and then transport/carry them to EMS," said Cann. He noted the youths were cold when Oakville Fire got to them and brought them to shore. "As w e brought them over and got them on shore, EMS took over their care immediately," said Cann. No significant injuries According to police, the Oakville youths did not suffer any significant injuries, but were suf fering from minor exposure. Both teens were taken to hospital as a precaution, in the com pany of their parents, who attended the scene, according to officers. Oakville firefighters used cold water equipment to res cue two teens who slipped by accident into the waters of Sixteen Mile Creek at Lions Valley Park Jan. 4. Battling the elements, including high winds and slippery surface conditions, members of the Oakville Fire Department successfully res cued two youths who became stranded at Lions Valley Park on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 4. The fire service received a call at 10:43 a.m. that the youths -- aged 13 and 16 years old -- were stuck on the east side of the Sixteen Mile Creek bank and six Oakville Fire units were dispatched to the scene. Lions Valley Park is located at 1150 Dundas St., just west of Neyagawa Boulevard. The youths were in distress at a location north of the bridge. "They came down the bank and ended up going across the river to the other side and they got caught there. We had to perform a rescue to clear them from the scene," said Oakville Fire Service Platoon Chief Doug Cann, who spoke to the Oalzville Beaver on scene.
