A feisty, strong, opinionated Scottish redhead, Grace loved all animals (dogs in particular) and all children (Falgarwood Public School kids in particular) and managed to combine these loves in her 11 year career as an award winning school crossing guard. She had a smile and word of advice for every child and a dog biscuit for every dog" on her watch". Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Grace immigrated to Canada in her early twenties and shortly after met her husband, Ray. They started their lives and careers together as Arthur Murray dance instructors, later both moving to retail sales with Simpson's and The Bay. Predeceased by her husband of over fifty years, her parents and her twelve sisters and brothers, Grace was the last matriarch of her generation. She leaves many nieces and nephews, including her neighbour and niece, Tilda Forbes and her family. Cherished by nieces Barbara Robinson and Jeanette and husband Nelson Sha of Langley, BC. We will miss her laugh, her flashing blue eyes, her ever present support and her remarkable spirit. She will always remain our role model for living independently and honouring her own voice.
