Budd, 76, died at home on Aug. 18th. Bom and raised in Toronto, Stuart Budd had considered w orking professionally as a singer, but the war cut those plans short. But he loved to sing and partic ularly enjoyed barbershop music. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and toward the end of the conflict, seeking active duty, joined the army. Follow ing the w ar he sold trucks for International Harvester, and then moved over to automo bile sales. He worked at Carter Chevrolet in H am ilton and then Humberview Motors in Islington until 1973. In 1959, he and his wife Bonnie had chosen to move to Oakville to raise their family and in October o f 1973, Stuart Budd and his sons, Darryl, Chris and Terry, becam e partners in Budds' Imported Cars of Oakville. The three sons were sports car enthusiasts and with the help and guidance o f their dad, opened a B ritish Leyland dealership. core and full o f integrity. He believed in treating people fair ly " Stuart B udd was actively involved in the community doing fundraising for the the Y.M.C.A. and the O akville T rafalgar Memorial Hospital. He was also a m em ber of the O akville Community Foundation. An avid tennis player, he was a member o f the Oakville Club and played right up until January of this year. C hris spoke o f his father's keen business sense. "It amazed me how he was so analytical and capable in terms o f forecasting opportunities." The business partnership with his sons, he added, created a good balance and was helpful to both father and sons. He will be rem em bered for his great sense of humour. "He could find the hum our in all situations no m atter how tough things got. He also loved a good party," said Chris. "To us he's an icon, the nicest guy in the world.
