Police Chief Ean Algar who posed in the traditional Chisholm Tartan to help pub licize the event - said the pub lic appreciates the effort and always responds in kind. "People love pipes and drums and love the Chorus," said Algar, who believes Halton's' rich British/Celtic heritage makes the Tattoo a natural. "This is a type of music the public enjoys." Tattoo 2000 takes place Saturday, Sept. 2nd at Nelson Stadium, 4181 New Street in Burlington, starting at 7 p.m. The event is being presented Vin conjunction with the Halton Regional Police Pipes and Drums (of which Swance is a part) and the Halton Regional Police Chorus. The -sell-out tattoo held two years ago as part of the Halton Regional Police 25th Anniversary was a huge suc cess that boasted three hours of entertainment featuring 15 presentations by more than 600 performers. "This is even a better show than `98," said Swance, who explained that extra bleachers will be set up to accommo date the crowd of well over 3,000. The 22-strong Halton Regional Police Chorus, for example, will perform The Photo by Barrie Erskine Getting ready for Tattoo 2000 are deft to right) Halton Regional Police Chief Ean Algar, wearing the Chisholm Tartan, halton Regional Police Choir members Trish Barichello, Marilyn Taylor, Joan Morrison, Ivor Evans, Joan McWilliams, and Halton Regional Police Pipes and Drums Pipe Major Jeff Swance.
