Gerardo was predeceased by his beloved w ife Carmela, brother Angelo and sisters Benedetta and Maria. He is survived by his brother Enrico (Francesca), sister-in-law Anna and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. Gerardo immigrated to Canada in the early 1950's w ith his brothers from Alvito, Italy, settling in Oakville as part of the early Italian community in Halton and working in the construction trade fo r over 45 years. He w ill be forever remembered by family and friends as our "Zio Gerardo". Visitation w ill be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville. A funeral mass w ill be celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 231 Morden Rd., Oakville on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. followed by an entombment at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens. In his memory, donations to the Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated by the family. PARK, Kenneth "Ken" Passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on February 4, 2017 at the age of 84 due to complications related to a battle w ith brain cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Ernestine Park (nee Curotte) fo r 37 years. He is survived by son A rthur James, daughter Karen Audrey and granddaughter Katelyn Ann -- daughter of James and Mary Ann O'Neill-Park. He also leaves behind his close companion of 20 years and dear family friend, Tessa Chalmers o f Oakville. Ken was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 17, 1932, but spent the early part of his life in and around Montreal, Quebec where he began his career as p ilot (Captain) w ith Air Canada. He transferred his base of operations from Montreal to Toronto in 1977, settling in east Oakville. Ken retired from the airline in 1992 at age 60. Ken was an avid golfer throughout his life, but never achieved the golfer's dream of "shooting his age." He was an active member of several go lf clubs in Oakville and Burlington, and continued playing through the summer prior to his passing. He was also an enthusiastic boater, and maintained mooring facilities at various times at Oakville Harbour and on Georgian Bay. Ken was an active member of St. Aidans Anglican Church and served tha t community in several roles during his time in Oakville. Ken was diagnosed w ith Glioblastoma in September, 2016 and underwent surgery to remove a tumour. Unfortunately, the cancer continued to progress slowly and he succumbed to pneumonia-like complications on February 4, w ith his daughter Karen by his side. Ken resided happily and comfortably during his final months at the Amica Assisted Living Centre in Bronte. The fam ily is extremely grateful to Amica's devoted staff fo r making his time there as pleasant as could be. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 8, at St. Aidan's Anglican Church. He is interred beside Ernestine at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery on Dundas St. West in Oakville. She was the beloved w ife of Brian fo r 46 years, and loving mother of Craig. She w ill be greatly missed by her sisters Sharon, Veronica and Brother Ron, their spouses, as well as all her nieces and nephews, their spouses and children, plus our entire extended family. Born in St. Johns, Newfoundland, her family moved to Toronto early in her childhood. She commenced her banking career in 1966 achieving success by rising to branch management and senior management in Human Resources, retiring in 2001. She was exceptionally family oriented being very close to Craig, plus all her siblings and their families. Sandi loved spending many happy days golfing w ith Brian and friends, both locally and on vacations in the south. Curling was her passion and over 28 years at the Oakville Curling Club she made many friends due to her sweet personality. Over the years both Sandi and Brian played slo-pitch, again meeting great people, and cherishing their friendship. Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, Friday, February 10th, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 2745 North Ridge Trail, at 1 p.m. February 11th, followed by burial at Glen Oaks Cemetery. Predeceased by her loving husband Dr. Douglas P . Walmsley and son Robert, daughter-in-law Julie and brother Harold. She is survived by her loving daughter Linda Fletcher (John), cherished grandchildren Paul (Melissa), Jennifer (Brent), Mark, Scott and Richard, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Born in W innipeg, Manitoba in 1928. Shirley worked at the Bank of Montreal in W innipeg and in 1952, she married the love of her life, Douglas. Shirley and Doug moved to Bronte (Oakville) in 1954 where he practiced medicine until retiring in 1995. Shirley's community involvement and service was recognized w ith numerous awards. In 1988 she was recognized by the Red Cross fo r giving 135 blood donations. In 2009, she received the Oakville Community Spirit award and Oakville Senior of the Year. In 2015, Shirley was honoured w ith the Ontario Leading Women Building Communities Recognition Award and the Ontario Senior of the Year Award. Also in 2015, she was recognized by the Oakville Hospital Volunteer Association for her 61 years of service. Shirley was a dedicated member of W alton United Church fo r 63 years. She was president of the UCW and served on many committees. She was also a choir member and soloist until December 2016. Shirley was a member of the IODE, President of the Centriller Home and School, President of the Halton Music Festival and a life member of the Ontario Medical Wives. Shirley loved singing, camping, travelling the world and the Toronto Blue Jays. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A strong and courageous woman, Shirley was known fo r her graciousness and positive attitude and was a blessing to all who knew her. A special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff and volunteers of Ian Anderson House, to Dr. Gray, and Glenann Vincent.
