Submitted photo Novice A Twisters triumph in London Goaltenders Kalleigh Cromwell and Carly Smith combined for three shutouts and allowed just two goals through five games as the North Halton novice A Twisters earned gold medals at the 27th-annual London Devilettes' Girls' Hockey Tournament earlier this month. In the final, a 5-0 rout of Whitby, five different Twisters scored goals in a thorough team effort. The North Halton novices finished in second place in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League's A division with an 11-4-7 record, just a point behind front-running Oakville. Next up is a best-of-3 playoff series against the Burlington Barracudas beginning Feb. 26, with the winner advancing to the LLFHL's Final Four. Monarchs edged by ShockWave A seven-point, first-star performance by former NLLer Matt Lyons went for naught as the Toronto Monarchs dropped a 12-11 decision to the St. Catharines ShockWave Saturday in an Arena Lacrosse League matchup at the Iroquois facility in Six Nations. The Georgetown native scored twice and added five assists as the 2-3 Monarchs rallied RuLES from five goals down, but they conceded the winning marker with just over four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Luke Laidlaw (2), Shane Scott (2), Jordan Dance (2), Jordan Critch, Patrick Miles and Jayson Crawford tallied for Toronto, which has lost three straight games. The Monarchs will take on the winless Peterborough Timbermen this Saturday in Oshawa. yOuTH dIvISION 12-13 players per team 10 players on the field 6-12' pitches with board WHAT yOu GET Join the Georgetown slo-pitch Co-ed youth division in 2017.
