Photos by Barrie Erskine CUSTOM CABINETRY 905 - 257-0861 Birds of prey flock to Oakville Fly on over to the Oakville Enter tainment Centrum tomorrow (Satur day) and watch a Birds o f Prey demon stration in the park at the back between 3 and 6 p.m. The whole family is sure to be amazed at the beauty and agility of fal cons, owls and hawks as they swoop down from the sky onto their trainer's perches. Between shows, families can get a close-up look at the birds and walk among them as they rest on their perches. Attendants will be on hand to answer any questions about the birds. These fine feathered friends will be visiting Oakville from their home at the Falconry C entre, which is a medieval courtyard that houses over 200 falcons, hawks, eagles, owls, and vultures. The Falconry Centre was designed and built for the breeding and research of rare and endangered species. The centre is located in Tottenham and is open to visitors from May 15th to Oct. 15th. Throughout the year the centre serves as a w ildlife rehabilitation facility for wild, injured raptors as well as a breeding centre for falcons used in bird control at international airports. It also houses a How to Learn the A rt o f Falconry school, which teaches the 4000-year-old medieval art of falconry. Entrance to the Oakville Entertain ment Centrum Park (aka the AMC Theatre complex), which is located at the northw est corner o f W inston Churchill Boulevard and the QEW, for this event is $10 per family. Proceeds will go to the Falconry Centre's Wildlife Custodian program, a not-for-profit organization that pro vides medical attention to wounded birds o f prey.
