Jonathans was recognized in four categories this year, being honoured once again for having Oakville's Favourite Wine List, Favourite Desserts, Favourite Ambiance in town, and still being the Most Romantic place to dine. And when everything is taken into consideration, it's no wonder why Jonathans is simply the Favourite Restaurant Overall in the Oakville Beaver's Readers' Restaurant Review, again. But honours and awards aside, Jason is pleased that Jonathans ongoing success gives him the oppor tunity to help worthy causes. `While honoured with being voted #1 in Oakville, I'm pleased the recognition allows me to reach out to other groups," com ments the community-minded son of Jonathans proprietor. For example, Jonathans held a golf tournament in July to raise funds for The Child Witness Preparation Program (a specialized i service available to children and families throughout Halton), and raised over $3000. "The generosity of our patrons was only matched by their cheery acceptance of the weather conditions, with a spirit of positive energy in the air. Everyone pitched in to make it a success and everyone played well, in spite of the rain, knowing we were there for the kids." The Child Witness Preparation Program is one of many programs supported by the Bear Your Heart Campaign, an ongoing fundraising effort. The Child Witness Program provides an education program for chil dren objectively explaining the court process, the role of the witness, the importance of telling the truth in court, who the people in the courtroom are and what they do. "I'd love to see this become an annual event," says Jason, "in addition to anoth er of our proud accomplishments this year - the Prostate Cancer Dinner fundraiser we held in April." This was a very proud moment for Jason, as they successfully raised in excess of $17,000 for prostate cancer research. Continued on page 19
