For the last seven years in a row, perfection has been acknowledged in chicken and ribs. It is official, the Favourite Chicken is to be found at Swiss Chalet in Oakville. Swiss Chalet has been at the Upper Middle location since 1986, impressing the commu nity for a solid 14 years. "Customers seem to appreciate our immac ulate cleanliness, and our staff always has a great attitude," comments Franchise Operator Rino Vetrone. "They always come back for our consistent great tasting food!" Swiss Chalet offers an upbeat, up-tempo · i ' · * *I took it upon himself to plan his own wedding at Jonathans. An elegantly extravagant evening, Jason is still beaming from his special day just this past September. If his wife entrust ed him with their wedding plans, he must be good! But as it's been said in the past, Jonathans is a place you must experience in person. Executive Chef Chris Fedyk creates a magnif icent menu, treating visitors to his French "haute method". Trained in Switzerland and the world renowned Windsor Arms Hotel, Chris is always in touch with international cui sine trends. Most recently Jonathans added a new Sous Chef, Eric, who hails from New York City's top restaurants. Their past Sous Chef Phillipe DuForest moved back to his native France (Cannes), but keeps in close con tact with Jonathans. Another new member of the Jonathans family is Wayne. Graduating third in Canada, Jason has employed this som melier to care for their world renowned wine program, whose cellar currently offers over 450 selections to choose from. Almost two years ago they picked up on a local trend, their customers' desire for a more casual addition to their fine-dining atmosphere. Hence the addition of the Souffle and Seafood Bar - which has proved popular and been well received by patrons. Live entertainment pro vided by pianist Rob Reed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights accompanies this casual, fun environment. Rob Reed will also be sup plying the entertainment for Jonathans New Year's Celebration this year, welcoming 2001. Call Jonathans today for details, and see how you can greet the new year in style. Oakville Beaver W eekend 19 Jonathans creating stronger presence in community Continued jrom Readers s Restaurant Review Cover Another notable accomplishment for Jonathans this year was when Prince Andrew was in town for the Round Square meeting at Appleby College. The elegant, 19-year-old establishment was honoured when the meeting convened to the restaurant for a quiet dinner with a touch of class in one of the private din ing rooms. Jonathans' staff had the opportunity to impress upon this member of the Royal fam ily their expertise in international fare, dazzling with exquisite, savoury dishes. Possibly kind words travel fast through royal ty, as just one week later Jonathans was hon oured with the presence of King Constantine, of Greece. Jason feels it was perhaps his father's proudest moment, as Jonathan grew up in Greece, admiring his country's leader as a young lad, then sharing a meal with him as a successful restaurateur decades later. Aside from fundraisers and royalty, Jonathan's is still a favourite among the major corpora tions from Hamilton to Toronto. With the avail ability of seven dining rooms seating anywhere from six to 95 people, Jonathans can accom modate gatherings from corporate functions to weddings. Weddings being a personal favourite of Jason's. "Jonathans can offer such a wonderful alterna tive to banquet halls, and for a reasonable price," says Jason. He emphasizes that upon booking your reception at Jonathans, he'll take care o f all the other details for you. Working with your preferences, he'll arrange the music, the dance floor, everything you need to make a magical, memorable evening. And after plan ning numerous weddings for strangers, he atmosphere, always energetic and very alive. The great thing about this restaurant is that it suits everyone's needs. It's perfect for fami lies, teenagers, seniors, it's loved across the board - which adds to its success. Everyone can appreciate the great food, and everyone keeps going back - especially for their chicken and ribs. Although the secret sauce seems to draw people back as well. The secret of their success is simple, "we don't tamper with what made us successful^' states Vetrone. "We wouldn't think about changing our recipes!" Featuring more than 90 Chinese dishes, a salad bar, fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as an ice cream bar and desserts, it's really no won der why they're Oakville Beaver readers' Favourite! The authentic exclusive dishes originate from the Chinese province of Szechuan, as well as some authentic Cantonese dishes. Brothers Steve and Boris Tam opened up their business in 1986, to overwhelming success in both Burlington and Oakville. The varied buffet available at both the Oakville and Burlington locations are many customers' favourites, enjoy ing such a variety! Samples from the Szechuan portion of the menu include vegetables and meats in the chef's own sauce. Many of these dishes are exclusive to First Choice Kitchen as they are family recipes, and not found anywhere else. Kung Po Gai Ding is a spicy mix of water chestnuts, chicken strips, peanuts and greens. The hot and sour soup is a must, made in authen tic style brimming with chicken, pork and shrimp, along with tofu chunks, bamboo shoots and egg drop, all combined in a chicken-based broth laced with a healthy dose of Boris Tam's own hot sauce. You could say the key to their success is hid den in family secrets, that is, family recipes that produce the finest Chinese food in Oakville! i 'otimj us Oakville's favourite ` Burger * for V i for the 5th year in a roivl J a FREE The Burger And Ice Cream Store.*. 2420 lake$hore Rd.
