However, after examination and x-rays, the Oakville and Milton Humane Society (OMHS) says the canine likely died after being hit by a vehicle. Oakville resident Scott Snowball discovered the carcass Feb. 4 while hiking in an area adjacent to the railway tracks near Kerr Street, not far from a local shopping plaza. While heading back to his vehicle, Snowball made the grisly discovery. At first, he said, he thought it was a dog. Snowball told the Oakville Beaver it appeared someone may have flipped the body from its original position. He was disappointed that if someone had come across it before him, they apparently had not reported it to authorities. Upon seeing the animal had injuries "almost between the eyes, in the head," Snowball admitted he then wondered if the animal had been beaten or potentially shot. "It was still fairly healthy looking. It was in really good shape and it was young," he described of the coyote' s body condition aside from its injuries. Snowball called in the OMHS to have someone attend the scene to remove the carcass A coyote found near Kerr Village was likely killed by a passing vehicle, say the Oakville and Milton Humane Society. | submitted photo and examine it for verification of breed and cause of death. Snowball noted two officials attended the scene, took photos and removed the carcass. When at OMHS, he said he offered $100 to help pay for the animal' s cremation cost and later followed up for an update on the case. "I called them back later and was told it was a coyote, and not a dog, as it kind of had the look of one," said Snowball. Laura Mackasey OMHS animal protective services manager, confirmed the animal was a coyote and noted on Monday it was sent to a clinic for x-rays. see Blunt on p.5 iin IJ F * EXPERIENCE THE HALTON VACUUM 'S p ^ p DIFFERENCE While quantities last. b e a m S e r e n ity P o w e r P e r fo r m e r · 6 2 5 air watts of power · Serenity quiet operation · 10 year motor warranty · Gore self-cleaning filter · Complete with deluxe electric ensemble W IN T E R C L E A R A N C E Great Value P e r fo r m e r 500 A ir Watts of power Powerful enough for average homes Basic Electric Power, head and Hose kit Complete set of attachments 7 year warranty O NSALENO W !
