The organization is chartering its fifth communitybased club to serve the growing needs of Oakville. The club will hold a second launch meeting on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 7-9 p.m. at Joshua' s Creek Arenas, 1663 North Service Rd. E. Regular meetings are scheduled Thursdays, 7 to 9 p.m. beginning Thursday, March 2. An initial launch meeting was held in early February. Twenty members are required before the club can receive a charter, says George How, Vice President of membership for the new Hori zon Toastmasters Club of Oakville. He says Toastmasters International was found ed in 1924 and the first Toastmasters Club in Oakville was founded 60 years ago. The town is committed to safely deconstructing the former hospital and Helen Lawson buildings and has a comprehensive Demolition Strategy to guide the process. Attend our open house to find out more about the strategy including: · performance guidelines · abatement and demolition activities · mitigations to minimize dust, noise and traffic The overall demolition approach will be completed using standard mechanical demolition which involves mechanized equipment, articulated lifts and cranes. The demolition of the buildings will use a 3Rs approach - reduce, reuse and recycle - with the contractor diverting as much waste as possible from landfill.
