The slate of eight candidates is filled with longtime activists and politicians alike, vying for the region al chair, a regional council seat and a seat on local council. About 65 residents attended the meet ing at the Oakville Christian School on Third Line. Discussions ranged from revitalizing Kerr Street, truck traffic concerns on Dorval Drive, and environmental protec tion issues. Organizers of the event, the West Oakville Ratepayers Inc. and Oakville South Central Residence Association, had attempted to focus discussion on the town's plans to privatize property assess ment services - the town pays $4.5 mil lion annually to a provincial body.
