According to police, a lone m an entered the coffee shop at 111 Cross Ave. and approached the counter. Police said that while brandishing a knife, the suspect demanded the cashier hand over the m oney in the cash register. However, no m oney w as turned over and no one w as injured as the suspect suddenly fled the scene. The m an was last seen running toward the Oakville GO Station parking lot on Cross Avenue. The male suspect is described as white, 5-foot-1 to 5-foot-6, with a slim build. He w as wearing a black hoodie, with a red shirt covering his face but with a hole cut out for one eye, khaki-coloured pants and lightcoloured gloves. V e n d i n g m a c h i n e s w e r e b r o k e n in t o An Oakville man is facing charges in connection to an alleged series of thefts from local vending machines. According to police, between Jan. 23 and Feb. 15, officers investigated thefts from coin-operated vending machines at three locations, including: a high school, apartment building and a business on Speers Road in Oakville. Police didn't disclose anymore details. Dennise Nunes, 40, of Oakville, is facing charges of break-and-enter, three counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of mischief under $5,000, three counts of failure to comply with probation, three counts of failure of to comply recognizance and three counts of possession of a break-in instrument. He was held for a bail hearing.
