Oakville, which has received an average of about $2.3 million per year, could see funding increased to an estimated $2.9 million in 2019 20, $3.5 million in 2020-21, and $4.7 million in 2021-22, according to Flynn's future prediction. "The stable, reliable funding from the gas tax is what municipalities need to make long-term improvements to our transit services," stated Burton, in a media release. "This boost in funding will mean improved transit service, reduced congestion and a more liveable Oakville for all our residents," said the mayor. "We know the money will be put to good use," Flynn added. Gazing into the future, the cash would be used for infrastructure improvements to transit services and free up other money in support of a range of other services, said Adams, who has been the long-standing chair of the Town of Oakville's budget committee. Improvements include: buying additional transit vehicles, adding more routes, extending service hours and improving accessibility for passengers. The allocation of gas tax funding will be determined during the Town's budget process.
