Nominations are now open for the 16th annu al Community Spirit Awards, which recognizes outstanding individuals, groups and businesses in seven categories. The 2017 Community Spirit Awards gala will be held Wednesday, June 7 at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC). This year's awards will be designed by local il lustrator, designer and portrait artist Emily Soden, who works closely with oil, acrylic scratchboard and pencils, but she prefers watercolour and ink. Her commissions are inspired by nature and animals, often showcased as recurring themes in her work.
