In January, Watoto launched a new Watoto Children's Choir production called Signs & Wonders that celebrates the jo y of salvation. The choir will be perform ing in venues across Canada from January-July This dynamic production boasts a choir com prised of orphans and other vulnerable children. "This production is going to challenge preconceived ideas about miracles. It dem onstrates that each of our daily lives are signs and w onders of G od's w ork in u s," says Jam es Skinner, Creative Direc tor: Watoto Children's Choirs in a press release. "This is evidenced by the m iraculous transformation that Je su s w orks in people who were once lost, but are now found. We see this through the innocence of the child telling of their transformation from their dark past to the light that God has show n upon them ," Skinner adds. Through the power of their testimo nies, the children share stories of how their lives have been changed, and how they have been called into a life of pur pose to transform their communities. Each story will declare the miracle of transformation. The full Watoto Children's Choirs tour schedule can be viewed online at www. watoto.com/app/choir/calendar. In 1994, Watoto Child Care Ministries w as developed out of Watoto Church. It started with one sim ple house in Kam pala. Here, eight orphans and a widow were given the opportunity to becom e a new family. Watoto has grown to becom e a phe nomenal beacon of hope and example of true transformation in Africa. To date, Watoto has provided holistic, residential care for more than 4,000 orphaned and vulnerable children (about 3,000 in cur rent care). This includes former child sol diers and those born to rebel leaders dur ing the civil war. Accom panied by a team of adults, the choir presents Watoto's vision and m is sion by sharing personal stories, m usic and dance. While on the road, the chil dren act as advocates for the millions of other African children who have experi enced the sam e heartbreaking pain and suffering as them.
