www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, March 23, 2017 | 8 O U RSPRiNGEXHIBITIONS O PENTHIS SUNDAY! I ^ m Have your say on airplane noise There' s still time to comment on airplane noise. In fact, Oakville residents have until tomor row to provide comments or feedback on the issue of airplane noise in town. Helios, an aviation consultancy hired by Nav Canada to conduct an independent review of To ronto airspace, held a community consultation on Thursday- March 2 at St. Luke' s Community Centre. Approximately 50 people attended. The presentation slides, which were used at the public meeting, are now available at www torontoairspacereview.ca. The slides have been annotated with notes to explain and aid understanding of content, says Katherine Mathias, an analyst consultant with Helios. Air traffic noise became a problem for Oakville in 2012, when NAV Canada (a privately-run, non-profit corporation that owns and oper ates Canadas civil air navigation system) made changes to the flight paths for airplanes using Toronto Pearson Airport. Helios recently concluded a similar noise re view in England, at London' s Gatwick Airport. "Many thanks to all those that attended our public meetings, w hich were held at the beginning of this m onth," Mathias said in an email. "Thank you also to those that have provided feedback, comments, thoughts and opinions via the email address provided," Mathias added. "Your input to this study is invaluable." Anyone who is interested in providing any further comments or feedback about the review can contact Helios at TorontoAirspaceReview@ askhelios.com. The deadline for providing feed back is March 31, 2017. Helios will produce a report, which will be made public this summer, setting out the conclu sions of the review team and identifying any rec ommendations that Helios believes will reduce the noise from aircraft operations.
