(excluding: Geraldton, Kenora &Thunder BayOntario) Halton police have confirmed the firearm used in the March 16 murder-suicide at the Mejilla Chiropractic Clinic in Burlington was a small calibre handgun legally owned by and registered to, the shooter David Williamson. Oakville resident Ferdinand `Dr. Fred' Mejilla, 50, who operated the clinic located on Plains Road in Burlington, died in hospital from gunshot wounds suffered at the scene of the shooting. Mejilla was father to five. Williamson, 4 4 , of Burlington, was a former patient of Mejilla' s, who police say shot Mejilla then turned the gun on himself. Williamson, died in LTamilton General LTospital on March 18 from what police described as a selfinflicted gunshot wound. Police stated in a media release issued Tuesday (March 2 8 ) that prior to the shooting, Williamson did not have any criminal contact with police, nor were police aware of any reported occurrences of domestic violence/ disputes. "The Halton Regional Police Service is sensitive to the victims in this incident and has no further information suitable for release at this time," stated police spokesperson Constable Jutta Jasper in the release.
