Mayor to deliver economic update onApril 26 Oakville Mayor Rob Burton will discuss how innovation can foster the local economy as part of his annual update on the town' s current financial state. In partnership with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, Burton will deliver his annual Town Econom ic Update Wednesday, April 26, at the Oakville Conference Centre. The yearly gathering brings local business and community leaders together to get updates and announcements on what Council is doing to help create jobs and foster economic pros perity in Oakville. Fostering Innovation, the theme of the mayor' s address this year, will focus on some of the ways Oakville' s economic development strategy is working to grow the economy by attracting innovators and some of the ideas currently being considered to support job creators in town. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and con cerns for a candid conversation with Burton following his pre pared remarks. Over the past 10 years, Burton has searched for innovative solutions to control growth, keep debt and taxes low, protect green space and make investments in community facilities, services and infrastructure, according to a Town media re lease. "Innovation is at the heart of any good business and any effective government," Burton stated in the release. "I am pleased to have this opportunity to share the ways we are working to promote and harness innovation to benefit Oakville businesses." The economic update will take place Wednesday, April 26 at the Oakville Conference Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Rd.
