Last year's drive filled up more than 13 shopping carts with gently used, cold weather clothing. There were hats and boots and everything in between for adults, youths and children. "With the onset of winter, the need for warm clothing becomes as essential as food and water," says L o m e Lewkowicz, Hopedale's marketing and promotions director. "And, as affluent as the Town of Oakville can appear, it is not without its share of unemployment and low income families." The beneficiary of Hopedale's Outer Clothing Drive donations, Kerr Street Ministries, is a non-profit organization that works closely with other agencies such as Halton Fam ily Services, Fareshare Food Band, and the Region of Halton - through its police and social services. They also support other care providers such as the Canadian Mental Health Association. One of their primary contributions to public welfare is The Kerr Street Market. It is virtually a store consisting of food, clothing and small household items. The Market operates on a voucher system.
