The concert features some of Canada's top young musicians including Yulai Duan, piano; Em m a Meinrenken, violin; Vivian Chen, piano; and Julia Debowska, a soprano. There will also be performances by Ap pleby College music students. A reception will follow the concert. Ad mission to the concert is free, although a donation to the CMC Scholarship fund would be appreciated. Meinrenken attends the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto on a full schol arship. This summer she was selected as one of eight violinists to participate in the Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland. Chen is currently in her third year at the University of Toronto, majoring in piano performance. In 2 0 1 6 , Chen was awarded first prize at the national Cana dian Music Competition with 95 per cent. Duan studies the piano at the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy. In 2 0 1 6 , he was placed first at the CMC Nationals in the 1 1-year-old category. Debowska is a full scholarship student at the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy in Toronto. In June 2 0 1 6 , she received first place at the Canadian Music Competition with the highest mark (96 per cent) for voice (ages 18 to 3 3 ) in the National Final. The CMC is a national non-profit or ganization dedicated to discovering, sup porting and promoting promising young Canadian classical music students. The organization provides opportuni ties for musicians to measure themselves against their peers through competitions and gives financial assistance, through scholarships and bursaries. They are a young and talented music ensemble of some 50 singers and dancers. This year there will be a guest appearance by DC-3. DC-3 is a trio of jazz musicians who bring a softer, more reflective, side to the program with gospel and jazz that will help celebrate Canada' s 150th anniversary.
