Last year, Harry bought his wife the ultimate birthday gift, three tickets for the Oakville Great Dream Home Lottery for $100. One of them made Sherrill a winner. It was the best birthday pre sent she's ever received. "You know, it works both ways," he teased his wife at Thursday's unveiling of the state ly house to be won in this year's sixth annual Oakville Great Dream Home Lottery. Last Easter, the couple moved from their north Oakville house, they purchased six years earlier into a beautiful Mattamy W ideLot Dream Home on Oakhaven Drive. W ith them came their two adult children, Darren, 28, and daughter Lori, 25. "They're still home," quipped Sherrill. And, spending more time at home is Harry, who retired from the Solicitor General's office at the end o f October after 35 years. `T m still working," says Sherrill, who also works for the Solicitor General. "W hen we were moving, our neighbours on both sides didn't know we won the house," said Sherrill. "The place is great, just won derful," said Harry. "I can't believe I had bought a house for $ 100." Dream Home lottery ticket sales hit 85% m ark The sixth annual Oakville Great Dream Home Lottery is 85% sold out That means, about 59,000 of the 70,000 tickets to be sold have already been purchased. Tickets are $40 each or three for $100. Cut-off date for ticket sales is Nov. 17th at 9 p.m. Proceeds from this year's lottery will bene fit the OTMH (Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital) Charitable Corporation, the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, and the Capital Campaign of the Oakville YMCA. Over the past five years, the lottery has raised more than $3 million. The final draw for this year's Dream Home is Nov. 24th, 7 p.m., at Glen Abbey Mattamy Homes Sales Pavillion at 1388 Dundas S t W., at Proudfoot Lane. In addition to the Dream Home, there are 4,400 prizes to be won, including: a seven-day cruise for two to Tahiti, a $20,000 shopping spree at The Bay; a 14 c t sapphire and diamond ring, Kawasaki jet ski, Air Canada vacation for two to Jamaica; home theatre system. Blue Jays sports box, Jones Apparel gift certificate. The couple were among the first to see the new Dream Home at Pine Glen Road and Proudfoot Trail in Upper Glen Abbey, a Mattamy WideLot home on a 60 foot comer lo t And similar to the Southerns' new home, it's located near the Sixteen Mile Creek ravine and walking trails. This year's 3,350 square foot Dream Home valued at $379,268, is a "unique, one-of-akind design," says Peter Gilgan, president of Mattamy Homes. It's the third home his compa ny has built for this lottery. The house was designed by Mattamy's contracted architec tural firm, "which donated its services as did many of the other contributors who either donated their services, material and work, or gave it to us at a reduced cost," said Gilgan. "This lottery is the culmina tion of a lot of peoples' contribu tions," said Gilgan. The five-bedroom brick home features a gourmet kitchen with an island and granite countertops, five built-in appliances, a gas fireplace and entertainment niche in the living room, front, side and rear porches, ceramic tiles strip hardwood flooring throughout the main floor, and nine-foot ceil ings.
