Description
Walter Ernest and Minnie Eliza (Stoutt) Henderson show off the new baby in their family, Wilma Maxine. Minnie and Ernest married in York on July 25, 1903.

The older child is likely a cousin of Wilma's. The photograph was taken at the white house that stood at 2436 Lower Base Line, Milton. This farm and farmhouse was the home of the Stoutt (sometimes written as "Stout") family for many years.

Ernest and Minnie were very active in area organizations. Minnie with several Women's Institute groups. They were members of the Omagh Presbyterian Church congregation. Ernest was a member of Trafalgar Council from 1953 to 1956, held office with the Halton Conservatives Association, the Orange Lodge, was a member of the Trafalgar Parks Selection Committee. Ernest was a contractor who built many of the barns in the area. Henderson Road and Henderson Park, site of many memorable summer camps for area children, are named after Ernest.

Wilma married Henry Gardner Wilson (called Harry) in 1943. The write-up in the Milton Canadian Champion newspaper of their wedding is linked here for your further information. Henry was a R.C.A.F. aircraftman at the time, and after a short honeymoon would be rejoining his unit.

Ernest and his brother, Harry, built the house which still stands (in 2017) 5th north of Dundas Street on Old Bronte Road in the former Oakville village of Palermo for Wilma and Harry and their family.
