Con was youngest of 6 children raised in the farming community of Woodstock, New Brunswick. He attended university at St. Francis Xavier, and later Technical University of Nova Scotia (now the Sexton campus of Dalhousie University), graduating w ith an electrical engineering degree, Class of 1959. W hile a student in 1955 he joined the Royal Canadian A ir Force through the ROTP achieving the rank of Squadron Leader (Major) before leaving the service in 1967. He later worked at Nortel Networks fo r 32 years in IT and finance, building on his education and earning both an MBA and a CA. Con met and married the love of his life Joanne (nee Vaughan) in Halifax in 1960. Always a family man, Con loved to spend tim e w ith his w ife and sons, and fond memories include: 1970s family camping vacations in our station wagon, XC skiing, early morning jogging and weight training, cream of wheat breakfasts, and working w ith his sons on high school math. In 1977 he wholeheartedly supported Joanne returning to school to obtain her RN status, and he happily took up various household duties. A generous kind man, Con could often be found tending to his tomatoes in the summer, or sitting quietly reading. A fte r retiring, Con and Joanne became avid bridge players, but they always made tim e fo r their 8 grandchildren. Con is survived by his w ife Joanne and the families of the ir 3 sons - Colin (Eileen - Erin, Conor), Frank (Connie - Erica, Leah, Natalie, Kevin), Mark (Michelle Easton, Cadence). He is also survived by his sister Josephine Curry and his brother Lou McGillicuddy and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Mary Zamora, palliative nurse Glenn Ann, personal support worker Eevelyn, and all the staff at the Ian Anderson House fo r the ir support. Visit our guestbook through www.koprivataylor.com McALLAN, Reginald George It is w ith profound sadness the family of Reginald George (Reg or RG) McAllan announce his passing at age 91 on June 4, 2017 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. The family thanks the nurses and doctors in OTMH on 5C and 3N as well as the outstanding team at Delmanor Oakville, all of whom provided compassionate, attentive care to RG in his final years at Delmanor and tw o weeks at OTMH. 3 O CD Q Q RG was born in Sunbury on Thames, Surrey into a family tha t quickly grew to six children in a 2-up 2-down terrace house. Prior to the outbreak of WW2 RG left school at age 13 and started w ork to help support the family after older brothers enlisted. RG worked in an aircraft factory on the outskirts of London and spoke of cycling to and from the factory during the blitz. He enlisted at 18 and joined RAF Bomber Command motivated by his first hand experiences w ith the blitz, he served in the UK and Far East, but spoke little of his experiences. Following the end of the war, he returned to England and was demobilized, he then joined the P.I.M. Board Ltd (Sundeala) factory where his father had worked. He met the love of his life, Muriel Sutherland, grand niece of the founder, at PIM and they married in 1952. RG left PIM and started at Colley Metals as a scrap metals clerk and retired 41 years later as CFO having applied his inherited Scottish work ethic, studies at night school and determination. During these years RG sailed at Littleton Sailing Club and golfed at Laleham Golf Club and subsequently Northwood Golf Club. RG then embarked upon his second career, moving to Oakville, Canada w ith Muriel upon retiring at 61 and became a significant presence in the lives of his grandchildren. He and Muriel were often to be seen watching skating, hockey, soccer, as well as driving children to innumerable practices and school events. He was delighted when mistaken fo r a parent at an event and became a devotee of Tim Hortons, often seen holding a cup on the sidelines or in the stands. When Muriel passed away in 2000, RG's rugged independence required tha t he learn all the skills required to live independently, he shared baking recipes w ith Kim, learned to do laundry and lived independently fo r 15 years. His sense of humour and quick w it was undiminished by the passage of time. He was a significant, positive influence on his family and we are all the better fo r his examples of determination and caring. Z3 Z 3 _ R em em bering on o Co o; I h- Q =T RG is missed and remembered by his son Andrew, daughter in law Kim and grandchildren Karen, Linda, Ian and Christine, together w ith his 3 surviving siblings and extended family in England and Scotland and the friends he made in the UK and Canada.
