Heavy smoke and some flames were visible when firefighters arrived at the scene of the blaze at 212 Kerr St. around 8:10 p.m. Firefighters forced their way into the seventhfloor unit and stopped the fire from spreading into the apartment unit from the balcony. No one was injured, but some units sustained some degree of smoke and water damage. In total, 24 firefighters with six trucks responded to the scene along with Halton paramedics and Halton police, who closed a section of Kerr Street after firefighters laid hoses across the roadway from nearby hydrants. Residents of the apartment building, other than those living on the seventh-floor were allowed to return to their units just after 9 p.m. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
