Alice Chen, 14, and Amr Saleh, 15, from White Oaks Secondary School (WOSS) finished third at the International Competition for Young Debaters (ICYD) held in Cambridge Union, while Appleby College student Nikhil Gowd, 17, placed fourth at the World International Debating and Public Speaking Championships in Sydney, Australia. The WOSS team competed against 48 teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, India and Greece, among others, and made it to the finals. The Oakville school was among five Canadian teams at the contest.
