A10 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, December 29, 2000 Eliminate the wear and tear from saving wine labels bottle, usually by soaking it. Perhaps it's only for Vintage Niagara Adventures sentimental reasons that 1 make an effort to peel the label of the Wine Cellar of St Catherines have come up with the perfect solution. A spe cial clear plastic strip is pressed over the label and immediately removed by peeling it off. The special glue will bind the label permanently to the plastic and will preserve the label for you. I tried two different labels and both of them came off without any damage. For about 50 cents apiece, this new method is about the best thing to come along since the inven tion of the cork screw. As far as I know, the label lifters can be bought only from VNA in St Catherines, either by e-mailing them at vna@on.aib.com or by phone at 905-708-0159. Their website is www.vna.on.ca. Spicy Szechwan and wellseasoned Chile rarely go well with wine, a beer is much bet ter. Yet, I found an outstanding wine from South Africa that did very well with both of those dishes. The FLEUR DU CAP Shiraz is a powerful spicy wine with nice plummy aro mas. A regular listing under CSPC 340422, its price of $14.25 is quite reasonable con sidering that I have found few wines that can stand up as well to very spicy foods like this wine from the Cape Town Region. The FLEUR DU CAP Shiraz is a robust wine for powerful dishes.
