The 15-member group, announced Wednesday, also includes 10 athletes from Quebec and two from B.C. Duffy is attempting to get back into racing shape before Olympic trials are held in A ugust for the 2018 Winter Gam es in South Korea. Duffy, com peting in the final World Cup event of the season last February in Belarus, suffered neck and spine injuries when he crashed during com peti tion. "I'm lucky to be standing, lucky to have recovered so fast and even luckier to have had so m any people sticking by me to help me in any way possible," said the former m ember of the Oakville Speed Skating Club on his Instagram site. Oakville Gym Club has 18 acrobatic gymnasts qualify for October Pan Am championships Members of the host Oakville Gym nastics Club dom inated the recent Gym nastics Canada Gymnastique (G C G ) Pan Am Selection event. The competition determined which acrobatic gym nasts will rep resent Canada at the Pan American cham pionships in Daytona Beach, Fla. in October. Seven of the nine units that will m ake up the team are from the OGC. This is the first time G C G has of ficially nam ed a team to represent Canada at the Pan Ams in acrobatic gymnastics. The seven units from the Oakville club include: · Allison Attard, Em m a Shemko and Ally Swanepoel in w om en's trio (com peted at 2016 world cham pi onships in China) · Alexandra D'Souza, Charlotte Penner and Erin Oswald in w om en's trio (com peted at 2016 world cham pionships in China) · Lola Gray, Piper Lafayette and Cassandra Larner in w om en' s trio · Ashlee Chan, Kiara-Carin Kacvinsky and Kiana W ilson in w om en's trio · Theo Rott-Chan with Mila Di Salle in m ixed duo · Julian a Sum m ers with Mikaela Pingol in w om en's duo. · Kristian Diana and Maxwell Hendershot in m en's duo Rott-Chan and Sum m ers also com peted at the 2016 worlds. The athletes all hope to qualify for the 2018 world cham pionships in Belgium. The two other team s going to the Pan A m s are from M ississauga and Calgary clubs. Rock hosts Cobouig M onday W hen the Oakville Rock hosts Cobourg on Monday, Ju ly 10, it will be the third straight game between the two M ajor Series Lacrosse teams. The Rock was scheduled to play the Kodiaks in Co bourg last night (Thursday). Oakville had little trouble with Cobourg (1-10) on Monday, Jun e 26, the Rock's last game, when Oakville won 13-5. It w as the team's fourth win in 10 starts with one tie, giving the Rock nine points and fourth place in the six-team league. Peterborough (9-1) is in first place with 18 points as of W ednesday Brett Hickey, the team leader in points, scored two goals and added five assists to lead the Rock against Cobourg. Stephan Leblanc scored four goals, Dan Lo m as had two goals and one goal each went to Brett Ulbika, Connor Fields, Brandon Slade, D am on Edwards and Eric Fannell.
