The SIU is a civilian, provincial law enforcement agency that investigates incidents involving police where someone has been injured, killed or has m ade an allegation of sexual assault. Over the past few m onths, the SIU has been producing videos with the goal of providing Ontarians with quick, informative answers to frequently-asked questions about the unit's mandate, jurisdiction and investigative process. Five videos have been produced by the SIU including an overview of the unit, the notification process, going to the scene, its investigators and the evidence. "The collaboration between SIU and White O aks Secondary School was a great experience for the unit and we hope it was as equally a great experience for the students," said Monica Hudon, SIU communications co-ordinator. "The class should be proud of what it has put together, as well as its role in enhancing the public's understanding of the SIU." Hudon noted the SIU contacted White O aks to be part of one of its videos after learning of the Oakville's school's "sought-after" film production program, Hudon said. The SIU communications co-ordinator spoke with teacher Dale Andrews to discuss collaborating on a video and decided the evidence edition would be best-suited for the Grade 11 students since it allowed for more creativity.
