Before the 11-year-old died in 2014, from diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a rare type of brain tumour, she was focused on helping others. On her eighth birthday, Maddie decided against gifts for herself, so she asked her friends to bring toys that she donated to Halton W omen' s Place. Since her death, Maddie' s family has continued to find ways to keep her memory alive, w hich is w hy they created Maddie' s Lil Angels. The initiative, which officially began last year, takes place around Maddie' s birthday, June 3, and involves gathering new, unwrapped toys and donating them to charity. Last year, toys were given to Halton W om en' s Place.
