Showing theirhearts On June 25, Knox Presbyterian Church in downtown Oakville held its annual church picnic, where the children installed and dedicated a Heart Garden in the Knox Memorial Garden. An initiative of the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada, each heart honours the memory of a child lost in residential schools. The Presbyterian Church in Canada is committed to healing and reconciliation with Canada's First Nations, and the heart garden is an expression of that promise. Each child decorated their own paper heart and then placed it in a special spot in the garden.The garden will soon feature plants and flowers native to the area, and possibly some traditional medicinal plants used by Aboriginal peoples.
