Tuesday, December 21,1999 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER C5 A Cliild s Ckristmas T ricia's fa v o u rite C h ristm as One icy cold, foggy day Tricia was playing in a big pile of watery, crystalwhite snow. She was playing on school property and on a Sunday. When Tricia's Mom (Mrs. Ellerson) was jogging by Tricia's school, some thing caught Mrs. Ellerson's eye. Sud denly Tricia's Mom noticed Tricia. Mrs. Ellerson came rushing to take Tricia home. "Why would you go to your school and play in the snow on a Sunday?" Mrs. Ellerson asked in an angry tone. Before Tricia had a chance to explain her dog Lacey jumped on Tricia and started licking Tricia. Tricia and her Mom could not stop laughing. So it was the end of the lecture. "Mom, I'm sorry for playing on school property without permission on a Sunday," said Tricia sadly, thinking the fun that Tricia and her Mom had now, and also thinking the lecture would continue. But her Mom just said "Go to sleep, and tomorrow Santa will come and you will receive a load of some of your favourite toys," Imagine Santa with a big sack full of precious toys ready to fly in your little hands. Tricia's Mom turned the light off and left the room. Tricia couldn't sleep. Suddenly Tricia heard loud jingle bells ringing. She saw a man with a thick long white beard. He was in a bright red cherry suit. He had puffy red cheeks, black boots, and a tight black belt. He looked cozy in his huge bright red sleigh, just like his outfit, with eight reindeer and a big sack of pre cious toys, just like her Mom described. She gasped in excitement for she had just noticed Santa Claus right before her eyes. He came to her window with a big smile and said "Ho, Ho, Ho." Then he continued "You have been the best girl ever for acting so kind and special in your heart, you will earn the presents you long for." Tricia stared in amazement as Santa disappeared in a big puff of foggy smoke. In the morning, Tricia quickly ran downstairs and noticed that the pre sents she longed for were right in front of her eyes. Then she knew it was true. She was so happy that she saw Santa for the first time. She thought she should tell everyone but she knew it was a secret between her and her best friend Santa. "Ho Ho Ho. C h ristm as at th e cottage My favourite Christmas was when we went to our cottage and we tried to get up a steep hill. It was full of ice and Maisean got to the top and she fell all the way down. Then my Dad came and he had salt but still the car wouldn't get up the driveway. One time me and my sister and my brother and my Dad went on a walk and we saw a big hole. My Dad said it was a fox home and my sister almost fell in. It was almost Christmas and we only had 10 more days until Christmas. Every weekend we went skating in the arena we have a big hill. On every weekend we go to the hill and we made a fort in the snow. Merry Christmas 1999.
