And for 73-year-old Oakville business man and resident Hector Sutherland, it's clearly not too late to start something new. Sutherland, an entrepreneur and former stock broker who had his family and busi ness roots in Montreal, is a driving force behind the partnership of two Oakville-based companies, TheNetStock.com and StreamlineMedia.com, an internet marketing company. Officially introduced on July 11th, TheNetStock.corn's new online service offers information and support to Canadians who would like to invest in the stock market and manage their own portfolios, but worry about making poor choices. Sutherland calls TheNetStock.com "the self-trader's safety net." TheNetStock.com was introduced at a Virtual Ribbon Cutting Ceremony recently, performed by Oakville Mayor Ann Mulvale, Oakville Chamber of Commerce president dent of TheNetStock.com. "TheNetStock.com is a unique service that compliments any online trading account. NetStock is not competing with e trade; it is a complimentary service that provides infor mation," said Peter Day, partner and market ing manager for Streamline Media. "We don't execute trades online, we `help' people execute their (own) trades online." According to TheNetStockxom officials, online trading services give the self-trader the technical ability to execute their own trades. However, those services don't neces sarily provide the information and experi ence necessary to decide what and when to buy and sell. The result, say company offi cials, can be potentially dangerous. Day said that if subscribers to this new service follow the model portfolios -- and the advice offered by Sutherland -- they should have financial success. "The result is that internet self-traders can get the information that they are lacking now to do the trades that they need in as little as five minutes a day.
