Friday, April 28, 2000 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER 15 Black B art preparing to invade Bronte "Black Bart, the Bronte Buccaneer" will come ashore in Bronte on May 27th, his mates in tow, to bring entertainment and provide all those little landlubbers with his booty. Treasure maps will be on sale at many Bronte locations. Look for the skull and crossbones on the doors, as you visit your favourite local merchants. Lots of FREE treasure and a chance at a draw for Black Bart's treasure! Parades, contests, two stage locations with loads of entertain ment, bands, demonstrations and street dance. A War Canoe Race will conclude in the harbour to promote a local charity. Dog guide school open house May 6th The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide Training Centre is hosting an Open House on Saturday, May 6th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its national headquarters, 152 Wilson Street (Kerr and Rebecca). The Lions Foundation of Canada is dedicated to helping people with visual, hearing and physical disabilities. Our three Dog Guide Programs: Canine Vision Canada; Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada; and Special Skills Dogs of Canada, provide mobility, safety and indepen dence to Canadians. At the Open House, the public will be offered tours of the facility with Dog Guide demonstrations at: 10 a.m. and every 30 minutes through until 1:30 p.m. Learn about the dog guide process, from birth to gradua tion with a client. There will be demonstrations from the three T a y l o r BRONTE VIEWS 1776/1812 Re-enactors will re-create the "Battle of Bronte" with canons and mus kets a-blazin'. A Historic Military Encampment will be set-up at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, May 27th and 28th, and will be open to the public. And for all ye landlubbers with a yen for the sea, don't for get the Tall Ship "Challenge" will be available for three-hour lunch and dinner cruises May 27th and 28th. This will be an exciting week end for adults, teens and children alike.
