« S und ay, N o v e m b e r 2 1 , 1999 O a kville B e a ve r W eeken d O AKVILLE BLADES - 1 9 the Blades are brought to you by the following volunteers The Oakville Blades have made a lot o f people rich. Now that's `rich' in the sense of accruing a lot of satisfaction in know ing that they're volunteering a lot of hours for a good cause -- helping our talented, hockey playing youth achieve their full potential. The Blades are actually a `not-forprofit' operation, depending on the good will o f hockey loving volunteers, of which the team is always in need of more (get in contact with a team offi cial if you're interested). Here are ju st a few of the civic minded folks who have accepted the torch and continue to ensure that junior hockey remains in Oakville. Be a part of the team The Oakville Blades have been a source of entertainment and youth development for thirty-four years. Last season, the team moved to the new Ice Sports Oakville arena and now has a per manent year-round base of operations. This local hockey facility has between 5,000 and 10,000 people per week pass through its doors. The Blades are front and centre in the arena and this, in common with the huge weekly traffic, provides an ideal advertising opportunity for local business. The Blades are community owned and operate as a `Not for Profit' organization. It takes many volunteers, supporter's, and money to ice a competitive team Naturally, a community based hockey team requires the support of the fans and the local business of Oakville. There are many opportunities with the Blades, for business to demonstrate community participation.
