Final session of Toronto Airspace Review Sept. 18 by Marta Marychuk Oakville Beaver Staff 9 | Friday September 8, 2017 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insidehalton.com For people who can't watch the final presentation of the Independent Toronto Airspace Review in person, the event will be live streamed and available to view remotely. Helios will be making the presentation on Monday, Sept. 18, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel, 5875 Airport Rd., in Mississauga. The final presentation is public and open to everyone. Helios, an aviation consultant, held a series of community consultations earlier this year as part of the independent airspace review it was conducting for Nav Canada. The final report will present numerous recommendations to Nav Canada which will decide which recommendations to implement. People do not have to pre-register to use the live stream service, said Nick Boud, principal consultant for Helios, in an email. However, by using the live stream service viewers will not be able to ask questions. Only people attending the final presentation |Metroland Media in person will have the opportunity to ask questions, Boud added. Air traffic noise became a big problem for Oakville in 2012 when Nav Canada (a privately run, non-profit corporation that owns and operates Canada's civil air navigation system) made changes to the flight paths for airplanes. Rash of vehicle break-ins in Glen Abbey by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff Halton police are investigating following at least nine break-ins to vehicles in the Glen Abbey area during the long weekend. At some point during the evening of Sunday (Sept. 3) suspects entered at least three vehicles on Glen Abbey Gate stealing a wallet, cell phone and spare change, police said. Break-ins to vehicles were also reported during the same evening on nearby School Master Circle and Pilgrims Way with a dash camera, wallet and other assorted personal items stolen from four vehicles. A purse was stolen from another vehicle on Hedgestone Crescent. A few hours later at 3:20 a.m., Sept. 4 a backpack was stolen from a vehicle on Montgomery Drive. In that incident two suspects were seen wearing light coloured hoodies and dark pants. In most cases the thieves were able to force a vehicle window down so they could get what they wanted. In other cases they smashed the windows. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext. 2216 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
