The website was recognized with a Gold Excellence Award in the General Purpose Website category at the IEDC's annual conference in Toronto on Sept. 19. The awards recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials and the year's most influential leaders. "Oakville is a dynamic and vibrant community and home to a growing number of marketleading companies," stated Oakville Mayor Rob Burton in a press release. "The Invest Oakville website is an important online resource available to companies big and small, to explore the many benefits the town has to offer as a prime location to develop a successful business." Investoakville.ca provides site selectors, companies and investors with a variety of information including Oakville's latest demographic and workforce data, market trends, leading sectors and top employers. The site is also home to Find Oakville, an interactive site selection tool that layers development information, demographic data, and market data with available sites and buildings. Oakville's economic development data and details were previously housed on the Town's website, however, federal funding from the Invest Canada- Community Initiatives Program, resulted in the creation of investoakville.ca. Town staff said the intention was to bring this information into a standalone site to better promote Oakville as an ideal location for business investment through digital marketing. This proposed amendment is also subject to the Town Initiated Urban Structure Review (File No. 42.15.52) and the Cultural Heritage Policy Updates (File No. 42.24.016).
